No I didn't. I'd say it sure was a good one though; low key, but good.
We'll save the partyin' for this coming weekend. More on that later.
I woke up to the soothing, cool rain as my bedroom window was open, and my husband treated me to this:
Breakfast in bed.
Fried eggs, crispy bacon, raisin english muffins, and blackberry cider.
I had a slow start to my day. Finally getting ready by late morning, I heard the doorbell ring, but I was not dressed yet! I knew it was my present. I took a huge risk by not answering the door, and hoped FedEx would leave it at my doorstep. I threw on some clothes, and I was so happy Mr. FedEx man did leave my prize!
It was my first pair of Frye boots! Thank you so much, Andrew!!
So it is true what Anderson sidewalks say...
I later had lunch with Andrew at Chick-fil-A, which is always a treat.
I felt a little under the weather at certain points of the day, but I was able to go out to celebrate on a bumpin' Wednesday night. It was nice, though, to just go out with A.Lee and have a relaxing, fun night.
We went to the same place as last year for my birthday, Half Way to Habana.
I had a cosmo...
warm bread with the most delicious cheese plate...
and a good time out on my birthday!
We called it a night rather early, knowing that we still had the rest of the week ahead.
And I had more festivities to tend to in the morning...like meeting Dorothy at The Meeting Place at 7 am before work. That was this morning, and I swear the pancakes are getting better and better.
Look how she honored me:
As Dorothy says, "Out with the old..."
"And in with the new!"
And apparently "becoming a domestic goddess" is now also "in" because Dorothy made bread from scratch, and gave me some for the sweetest birthday gift.
8:15 am approached as the real world beckoned, and our delightful breakfast came to an end.
I was okay with that because I had another prize for myself at the end of the day.
I had a nail appointment.
This is such a treat. I only treat myself to these things periodically. Like for birthdays or parties.
I've gotten many compliments on my latest nail color of choice.
Over the Taupe.
I'm enjoying it, as I type ever-so-carefully. My nails are still wet.
I'm not about to mess them up as I had to wait 30 minutes on this diva:
That's right. She 4.
This really put a damper on my day, and I was so close to saying something sassy like, "So do you have a date this weekend?" or "How much do you usually tip?" or "Your cuticles look so good; you mustn't have a labor intensive job."
This bitch vixen got a coat of hot pink, a second coat of hot pink, white polka dots, all topped with a coat of silver glitter.
Really?
I got over it as it was just getting to be my turn, and "Over the Taupe" became my new shade of the season, and my new birthday manicure!
Well that about wraps up my birthday celebrations over the last 2 days. I'm sure that was way more information that you all wanted to know. I hope you're still reading...
I'll be back soon with a send off for the big weekend ahead!
Happy belated birthday, Whitney! Love the taupe and so funny, too! My friend Tracy bought a shade similar from Sephora and hated it, so she sent it to me. I was a little nervous about the color, but you've inspired me!
ReplyDeletehahahaha, I think I just spit my coffee out reading this post..diva. vixen. priceless. this is a perfect example of why I will retreat in to a Duggar-like lifestyle when I have children
