My trip to France, part I

My trip to France was lovely; a wonderful gift before my baby arrives. I was most interested in how the French live, their ways, and their culture; I came away with worlds of knowledge, an appreciation for their lifestyle, and a new appreciation for my American one. As wonderfully chic and interesting the French are, at one point during the trip I started singing "God Bless America..." Fortunately, their croissants make up for their lack of heaters in a bathroom.

I have to say, the most admirable trait that I noticed was that they are individuals. They seem to dress in their best clothes whether it is "the trend" or not. Now, there are plenty of odd-balls who are not so chic, but for the most part, especially in Paris, I admired their only fashion trend: they are individuals.

I would be mistaken if I did not make a note regarding their undying love of bread and cheese; pain et fromage. This must be the trendiest things they do.

We flew into Paris and stayed a few days there before heading out by train to Renne and to the countryside near Pontivy and Saumur. We went on to Tours and caught another train back to Paris for a few days. Here's the beginning of our trip: Paris, the first time.

The Sacre Coeur.

Opposite the Sacre Coeur.

Can you believe it? The Gien store was across from our hotel. I was in blue and white heaven.

Munster, Camembert, Roquefort, Chèvre, and Cornte cheese.

A must see: Au Printemps. For looking, only.

My beloved Orangina.

L'Aduree: most delicious and expensive pastries and coffee known to man.

I'll be back tomorrow with notes from our time in the countryside and in Paris for the second time. It includes chateau's, art, Monet's gardens, and of course, cheese.
