Most everyone thought we were having a girl, and I must say, I did too. But the shock as worn off, and I am really excited about having a son; a first born son. I am already pinning books and taking advice on how to raise a boy.
When we found out we were having a boy, I came home and googled Bringing up Boys by Dr. James Dobson. It's a staple in any home that has boys, I know. I clicked on the video tab to hear Dr. Dobson before I purchased the book, and he told a little story about his dad and four brothers growing up. Long story short, he mentioned that they all put fresh green beans up their nose, and eventually it grew into tiny plants coming out of their noses. The congregation laughed and laughed. Regretfully, the words, "Oh $#!t" came out of my mouth. It was involuntary.
I'm hoping these annoyances that are not cute or funny to me now start to become cute and funny with my precious bundle.
We told the news of our upcoming baby boy to my family over shrimp fettucini last Wednesday night. My nephews were so excited to say the least. This will be the eighth boy in a row on my side of the family. Like my cousin said, "This will be one hell of a flag football team." It will be. I look forward to that.
We told Andrew's family this past weekend at Lake Martin. We had to stall until his whole family was together, so we took in the beautiful sights of Alabama.
I guess beauty is in the eye of the {Southern} beholder.
We told Andrew's family the news, and they were thrilled it was a boy. All but 2 thought it was a girl. I was given sweet gifts that I very much look forward to seeing my baby use.
We got home, and I wanted to "play" with all of my baby clothes from my sister. You won't believe how blessed we are. I have 20 newborn day gowns. 20!
Andrew says it looks like a baby store in the closet. It helps when your sister had 3 boys.
My crochet is coming along nicely too. I'm glad I started with that blue yarn.
Andrew and I are becoming more and more excited about taking this journey into parenthood. I can't tell you how encouraged and thankful we are for everyone's kind comments. Thank you!
I love your reaction to Dobson's video. So hilarious.
