Contentment

My week is going just about as sweetly as my weekend did. There's seasons that we go through, so I'll take this shower of blessings and tuck it away as a remembrance for when I may need a reminder of love.

In random other news, Aubie is now cone-less! She's a free little lady cat.

I've had so many invitations for coffee this week. And since Andrew won a gift card to Starbucks for Christmas, I'm thrilled to go to all of them at zero cost. I love when things like that happen.

I find it ironic that the two books I'm reading right now are conflicting with each other: What To Expect When You're Expecting and Calm My Anxious Heart.




It's like the world is saying, "Here's what's going to happen." And my heart is saying, "Okay, just settle down." 

I wanted to share something so profound, to counterintuitive to how the world works. The points of contentment in chapter 1 of Calm My Anxious Heart:

1. Never allow yourself to complain about anything--not even the weather.
2. Never picture yourself in any other circumstance or someplace else.
3. Never compare your lot with another's. 
4. Never allow yourself to wish this or that had been otherwise. 
5. Never dwell on tomorrow--remember that [tomorrow] is God's, not ours. 

Oh my gosh, try finding that on the Bravo channel. {Trust me, I watch the trash too. It's my guilty pleasure.}

But seriously, how wonderful to hear those things along with the constant reminder of Philippines 4:8 which states, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

I think I will think on those things.
