Calligraphy and some Dixieland Delight

I think Andrew is about to send me away because ever since I went "hunting" I can't stop singing Dixieland Delight.

You know, "white tail buck deer, munchin' on clover, redtail hawk sittin' on a limb. Chubby old groundhog, croakin' bullfrog, free as a feelin' in the wind."

I started singing it right after he asked me to go hunting in that early morning hour on Saturday. I think it was the reason I really wanted to go. It put me in the mood; the hunting mood. Then we got in the deer stand, and the little tune overcame me. I was shushed immediately. But ever since then, it's been a non-stop jingle in our house. Even when I woke up this morning, I greeted him with it.

I think he likes my rediscovered interest in country music. Old country music. John Denver, Alabama, The Judds, Loretta Lynn, you know, the classics.

Speaking of classics, I started my calligraphy class yesterday. My mom and I are taking lessons through LSU Leisure.

Well, this ain't leisure. Calligraphy is hard.

I had hopes that it would look like this:

Maybe one day.

My wedding invitation style is called Copperplate and the style I'm learning is called Italic.

Either way, this is difficult.

I hope I improve over our 6 week course. Andrew has been encouraging, though. The sad part is, he would be so much better at this than I am. He can draw like nobody's business. I might have to teach him a thing or two about this 45 degree angle I'm supposed to have, though.

That's just what I need in a calligraphy course! Math references!

I'm only kidding. I hope to showoff a masterpiece when I'm done. I think this will teach me practice, discipline, and diligence. Let's hope so.

This post won't be complete without this:

Your welcome.
