They told Andrew to Choot Em

I think it's safe to say that Andrew had the best weekend of his life.

It's at least in the top 5.

The stage was set. The food was cooked. And as luck would have it, south Louisiana had a bit of a cool front.

Our guests arrived right on time. And if my memory serves me correctly, "Don't Mess With My Toot Toot" was serenading us as we sat outside to enjoy a cold drink and appetizers. Andrew and I made a little cajun zydeco mix for the weekend. I think Andrew enjoyed it the most.

Our hard work paid off as our guests went back for seconds to have more of that sauce picquante!

4:15 AM came quickly for us on Saturday morning. This is post-sausage biscuits, coffee and fruit and pre-gator hunt.

Ain't she pretty in the early morn?

Although Troy, Jacob, and Clint were going out to hunt and film for Swamp People, Andrew and the boys were told the Buckmasters filming crew was in town, and so they were going out into the swamp with some different Landrys. So Guy and Ricky, (Troy's brothers), also expert gator chooters, led that group down to Bayou Sorrell where Willie and Junior usually gator hunt for the early morning action to see what they could find.

Even though they didn't wind up getting to make a scene on Swamp People, they were still honored to get this chance to go out and shoot gators.

Andrew got to shoot a little one, or so they thought. As the monster crept up, or fought up, I should say, the boys took one look at him and an expletive was shouted. But my husband, the gator hunter, shot him.

A 10 foot gator. They say he was about 10 years old.

He's so proud.

The girls met up with those boys, and we got to go in their cooler to take a look at where they store their hunt.

We're smiling, but don't let those grins fool you. The smell. Oh, the smell. Y'all have no idea...

One of the requests was going to The Rainbow. It wasn't open, but a photo op was needed.

Next up: eating again. My mom always said that when cajun's aren't eating, they're planning what they're going to eat next. It's so true. For Saturday night, it was steak and potatoes.

We retired to the living room to watch football.

Here they are with their spoons waiting for their dessert.

Decadent chocolate souffle.

Just in case those Landry's ever ask Andrew back to join them, he and his boots are ready.

What a great, memorable south Louisiana weekend. I hope there are many more.

I know you are all wanting that Cajun Zydeco playlist. If y'all are lucky, I'll give it up.
