Before everyone arrived at my parent's house for Christmas Eve, Andrew and I got to sip a little cider and chat by the fire.
In lue going to church, Andrew read Scripture from Luke and Matthew about the birth of Christ. Please note the Abita beer he has so close to his heart. After those readings, I read Isaiah 9:6-7: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end."
It still tickles me that those words were written hundreds of years before Christ was born to this earth.
Even Pepper liked hearing the Word.
Word.
Since we argued about what versions we like better, we read from several different bibles.
After that, all hell broke loose.
Momma's courtyard looked good.
And Momma did, too.
Then that Elf on the Shelf, Mr. Wiggles, seemed to be everywhere! He couldn't contain his excitement for Christmas!
Andrew heard him say, "Who Dat? I like Drew Brees!"
Depending on who you ask, Mr. Wiggles is either 15 or 208 years old. We gotta get the answer to that one by next Christmas.
He's somewhere in that cupboard, hangin on the fleur de lis!
Then the fun started with the gifts...
I was playing with one of their guitar shirts. I remember hearing something like, "Whit, could I try now? Could I try it now? Please?" Poor things. It was so fun.
Apparently, there's some blackmail video out there of adults playing the Michael Jackson dance Wii game. I'd like to get my hands on that.
We went to Auburn the next day and even got some snow. We traveled to Montgomery and had the Lee Family Christmas. It was a lot to pack in, but it was a nice holiday we had.
And somebody's birthday was yesterday!
He got more gifts from my parents! Spoiled thing!
We ate a cup of seafood gumbo, breaded veal cutlets, field peas, garlic mashed potatoes, and more pie. It was a pretty great birthday for being 2 days after Christmas. And all he wanted was a Saints win after all that. And he got it!
I hope you all had a great Christmas and celebrated with the ones you love. I know I did.
