"God's jealousy over his people presupposes his covenant love, and this love is no transitory affection, accidental and aimless, but is the expression of a sovereign purpose. The goal of the covenant love of God is that he should have a people on earth as long as history lasts and after that should have all his faithful ones of every age with him in glory. And it is in the light of God's overall plan for his world that his jealousy must, in the last analysis, be understood."
J.I. Packer, Knowing God
That word, "jealous" always bothered me when talking about the character of God. It probably bothered me because I didn't really know what it meant. You may recall some controversy a few years back when Oprah had a problem with it too. {I'm not going there; And I know you probably said, "Oh gah, she's going to talk about Oprah and theology}.
Well I'm not.
Blogging is writing about what's going on in your life; what you're thinking about; what's on your mind; what's in your heart.
What's going on is this: last weekend, A. Lee and I talked about God's character, as we often do. We were challenged and a bit changed. Not overwhelmingly; I did not feel the Holy Spirit come over me; I often don't. But I was challenged nonetheless.
