She'll make the best of what's around

Next weekend is a big anniversary for me. It's not the day I met my husband or the day I got married {obviously since you all just read about that}. It's the day my best friend Katey and I met Dave Matthews!

I could summarize the encounter for you now, but Katey put our experience with Dave in her own words nearly two years ago! She couldn't have done a better job:

"So, here is the story...

My sweet friend Whitney came into town this weekend for July 4th. We hadn't seen each other in 6 months, so we were so excited to hang out in Charleston (where we met). Her flight was delayed a couple hours, and we were kind of upset b/c we wanted to hurry up and get to having fun together. Anytime we are together, we just have the best of luck and greatest times. So we get downtown and pop into one of our favorite places, Coast, for a mojito. The hostess tells us, "Oh man... you guys are a minute too late. Dave Matthews just passed by and is on his way to Chai's for dinner." We were SO mad. We knew Dave was in town for a July 4th concert, and we can't believe we missed the chance to catch a glimpse of him. We debated going down to Chai's and stalking him, but they informed us that they closed it so only he was dining with friends. I turned to Whit and literally said, "Ya know... I'm really surprised we missed him. Normally with our luck we would have gotten to meet him!" So we were very bummed to say the least. We decide to leave and take a stroll down King St. to see where that lead us. We walked and walked and debated going into some shops, but for some reason, we just kept on going. It was about 6:30 at this point and King St. was not hoppin'. We realized we'd almost walked about 2 miles (in the opposite direction of where Dave apparently was dining), so we decided to just go ahead and walk to Market St. and we will re-evalute our plan then. As we were walking we noticed a group of about 6 people posing for a picture in front of TALBOTS. I turn to Whitney and say "Hey dare me to get in the background of that picture?" I decide not to ruin a poor tourist's framer and non-chalantly keep walking by. I hear one of the tourists say, "Yeah we came up all the way from Gainesville." Of course my Florida, native ears perk up and look to see if one of the people have a Univ. of Florida shirt on. Much to my pleasant surprise, he didnt, but he did have a nice fitting brown shirt on. I think to myself, "Nice bod.... OMG that's DAVE MATTHEWS." In slow motion, I turn to Whit and say, "Um... so there's Dave." He is standing there silent and looks over and sees me and Whit and smiles and starts walking our way. I grab my camera out of my purse and say, "I'm so sorry... do you mind?" "Absolutely not." he replies. So I get in the picture taking position. I motion for Whitney to come to his other side. He sees her and says, "Oh WOW." I reply, "I know. She's a cutie isn't she?" He says, "No, you're both beautiful." My heart races. We pose for the picture and he pulls us in so tightly... then I notice he has been playing with my hair the entire time we are standing side by side. Literally caressing my head. I'm dying. DYING. So we take the photo and I'm speechless. I told him how amazing he was, and that I wish I could be at the show on the 4th. Then I told him good luck and God Bless You. He was so appreciative and kind. And ridiculously handsome. Whit and I walk off and take to a small corner where we proceed to hyperventilate, cry, and attempt to get my body to stop shaking. He walks back by us and snickers as he catches us trying to recover from our brush with fame. He walks on and goes into the Charleston Place Hotel.

I have been to 10 of Dave Matthews' shows, but this was the ultimate experience! And he played with my hair...! Enjoy!"

Here's our proof:

Andrew hates this story because before we actually met Dave we told him that we did and got his autograph. He was so mad that we didn't get him to write a message to "A.Lee." Yea right, like we would've had time to think about that anyway. We told Andrew that we didn't meet him, then 20 minutes later we actually did. Oh, and Andrew hates this because Dave is slightly cupping my right breast. It's true.

All this nostalgia is due to my upcoming weekend visiting my friend (Katey, not Dave) this weekend in Charleston. She is the ultimate friend.

A good friend is someone who lifts you up in prayer, helps you plan a 90s party, tries out for The Bachelor with you, takes you on her dates (then ditch her date with you), laughs at nothing {hysterically}, drinks $1 mimosas on Sunday's, shows you how awesome friendship is, and so much more.

Katey is all of those things. Literally.

You probably think we're crazy. We are. We get each other, and I can't wait to see her this weekend.

I leave you with more evidence.

"Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God." Philippians 1:3

I hope you have a friend like Katey.
